Intro / Overview: TexArtCrete (AKA
Texas Art Concrete) is a sole proprietorship art business. The mission of my business is simply to
create beauty. I have no high-blown
sentiments that I want to push, with my art…
I just want to create beautiful works of art, with the media being
colored concrete, with inclusions of glass and rocks (rarely other items as
well). The customers will be the
bosses… I aim to make that which
sells! So one of the intents of this web
site, will be to show many photos of completed works, so that customers can
know what is, and what is not, possible with my style of concrete art (and
which compositions are readily “duplicated”, but only to the limited extent
that these creations can be duplicated…
No two will ever appear totally alike, because that is simply not
possible). Most of my creations should
be weather-proof… I know many-many
houses no longer have much of any spare room on the interior walls, for more
artwork. So buy my stuff and hang it on
trees, fences, and exterior walls!
Uniqueness: Each of my works of art will be fairly
unique, inherently (but some more obviously unique than others). But (unlike more high-brow and high-dollar
artists) I cannot promise to never-ever make anything that looks even vaguely
like the one that I sell to you. You
know, “break the mold” after I sell you one…
Sorry, I can’t do that, I am not a rich-and-famous-enough artist!
Custom Work: I am only now (8 Dec. 2015) getting close to
putting my first works up for sale. Others,
I have kept or donated for test (test-shipment etc.) purposes. The larger assemblies are so heavy that
per-piece shipping costs are $40 or so, excluding packaging and handling. So I hope to avoid doing much shipping… I will prefer to place my items for sale in
stores, AKA (Also Known As) distributors, re-sellers, consignment re-sellers,
etc. … Details TBD, and to be published
as they develop.
But for now, let it be said that I am
open to creating custom works per special requests. Please be warned that shipping is expensive,
and I will want a down payment. Details
TBD, of course… But the more unique
(“Happy Birthday, Uncle Frank B. Bad Dude” is hard to re-sell to anyone else)
your custom item, the larger a down payment I will want. Yes, I can do custom text.
Details, Details – As time permits, I plan
to add sub-pages here listing tools, materials, and techniques. Art and art techniques and methods should be
freely shared, ideally, I believe. For
now, though, I will settle for just showing you some pictures, along with a few
notes. Much more to follow, later… I’m sorry, but, the most exquisite details
about TECHNIQUES (so difficultly developed on my part), I will have to hold in
reserve, for now, at least.
Sample of Current Inventory,
Batch #1 –
At this point, I will present what is ready (or almost ready) for sale (method
of sale TBD, To Be Determined). Please
excuse me for a bit of lack of organization so far. Most (if not all) of these photos will be
presented as “hung on a fence” outdoors, to highlight that (almost all) of TexArtCrete’s creations should be able to be VERY durably
hung, OUTDOORS! Clean them every few
years with soapy water if mold and/or mildew, or “desert varnish” grows on
them; that should be about it. With
exceptions to be noted, assuming “God willing and the creek don’t rise”
(artwork is treated normally, and no major calamities arise; just exercise your
imagination), these creations should last a LONG time, even outdoors.

Pic #17, Rear or
Mounting-Side Sample View (Note, Allows Artwork to Be Hung in Any Orientation)
The above view is representative of most of these
(all the newer ones). The “legs” are
concrete, cast integrally with the rest of the artwork’s concrete (for
strength). 100-pound picture-hanging
wire is strung tightly there, and over-lapped and twisted together, then
secured with an “over-coat” or winding of finer-grade single-stranded
wire. The length of the “legs” will
cause the artwork to “pop out” of the wall, fence, tree surface, etc. (whatever
surface it is hung on). Be sure to use
bolts or screws strong enough to hold the weight! The larger ones can get heavy…
Pic #18, Rear or
Mounting-Side Sample View, OLDER STYLE (Note, Allows Artwork to Be Hung in Any
Orientation)
The above view is representative of an older style
of work. It is more work for me, the
artist, but can be done. They are harder
for the user / buyer to hang them, because it is harder to look behind them,
and see where the hanging-wire is, while hanging the piece. The piece hangs more “flush” to the wall
(does not “pop out” as much. I do not
plan to make them this way, any more, except if specially ordered that way, on
custom orders.
